Opal Flakes

Synthetic opal flakes on black or colour urushi base.

Opal is a relatively recent material to be incorporated into urushi work and can be used as large powder or also as inlay material if purchased in 0.3 mm thick sheets. Opal is a much harder material than Raden or Eggshell, requiring more layers and sanding to achieve a smooth finish.
